Automated Generation of an Energy Simulation Model for an Existing Building from UAV Imagery

An approach to automatically generate a dynamic energy simulation model in Modelica for single existing building is presented. It aims at collecting data about the status quo preparation of retrofits with low effort and costs. The proposed method starts from polygon outer envelope obtained photogrammetrically generated point clouds. open-source tools TEASER AixLib are used enrichment generation. A case study was conducted on single-family house. resulting can accurately reproduce internal air temperatures during synthetical heating up cooling down. Modelled measured whole heat transfer coefficients (HTC) agree within 12% range. sensitivity analysis emphasises importance accurate window characterisations justifies use very simplified interior geometry. Uncertainties arising archetype U-values estimated by comparing different typologies, best- worst-case estimates showing differences pre-retrofit demand ±20% average; however, as assumptions made permitted some national standards, already close practical applicability opens path quickly estimate possible financial savings after refurbishment.
